Study Guide Review
LSAT leader Kaplan returns with an updated version of its LSAT Premier book for the 2016-17 season.
As with its predecessors, this Kaplan LSAT guide offers an introduction and explanation of the LSAT followed by coverage of each of the different sections of the test. Typically, each test section is introduced and then followed by a list of the different types of questions found in that section. It then moves to cover different strategic approaches to answering these various types of questions. Finally, the book offers test-takers the ability to practice each of the different types of questions for that section, complete with an answer key. Kaplan’s LSAT Premier also offers one full-length LSAT test enabling the practice of all the different sections of the test in one place.
The book is thorough in its coverage, its explanations are easy to understand, and its practice questions are challenging and useful. However, the real appeal of this book is the access to online lessons that it provides, which used to only be given to those enrolled in Kaplan’s LSAT test prep course (which is among the best LSAT prep courses). While purchasing this book will not provide access to all of the online lessons, access is given to many of the more popular topics.
All in all, Kaplan LSAT Premier is a good resource but should be combined with one of the best LSAT books out there – a status which it has not quite reached yet. It could be improved by offering more full length practice tests and access to more of the online lessons, but it still remains an important tool in the LSAT arsenal.
